Movies Aamir Khan Rejected: From DDLJ To Darr, Here Is A List Of Movies Aamir Khan Rejected That Became Blockbusters.
Aamir Khan is a name that always guarantees a solid movie that will stay with you for a while. In a career spanning more than 35 years, Aamir has delivered fantastic movies like Dangal, Lagaan, Andaaz Apna Apna and others. He has been known to choose his movies wisely but there have been times when he missed out on some of the best movies of Bollywood. Here is a list of five Bollywood movies Aamir Khan rejected that turned out blockbusters at the box office:
Darr
The director and producer Yash Chopra wanted Ajay Devgn to play the role of Rahul, but he could not commit due to date issues. Then, Aamir Khan was cast for the role. He wanted Juhi Chawla to play the lead instead of Divya Bharti and Yash Chopra obliged. Later, he had issues with the sequences where Sunny Deol’s character kept punching him. The last nail in the coffin was when Yash Chopra refused to give a joint script narration to Aamir and Sunny. Shah Rukh Khan eventually landed the role and we all know how well the movie performed.
Saajan
The makers of Saajan wanted to cast Salman Khan and Aamir Khan together in this movie and make it a super-duper hit. Unfortunately, Aamir was not happy with the way his character was presented in the movie. On the other hand, Sanjay Dutt absolutely loved his character and said yes immediately. This film turned out to be the highest-grossing film of 1991 and went on to attain cult status.
Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge
Shah Rukh Khan’s legendary role of Raj Malhotra was first offered to Aamir Khan and Saif Ali Khan at first. Both the actors refused to be a part of the film, the reasons are still unclear but maybe it was for the best. Incidentally, when Shah Rukh Khan won the Filmfare Award for Best Actor, Aamir Khan said that he deserved the award for his role in Rangeela and stopped attending awards ceremonies altogether after that year. So much for a bad choice of a movie!
Nayak- The Real Hero
Aamir Khan was offered the role of Shivaji Rao before it was accepted by Anil Kapoor. S. Shankar was one of the biggest directors of the Tamil film industry at that time but it seems that Aamir was not convinced enough. The movies turned out to be a huge success for Anil Kapoor’s career and gave a great boost to it.
1942: A Love Story
Vidhu Vinod Chopra approached Aamir Khan for the role of Narendra Singh as he always had him in mind while writing the script of the film. The movie was received quite well by the public and the music was especially loved by all. The movie still remains one of the most loved romantic films in Bollywood.
