Sunny Deol Reveals Being Dyslexic In Childhood; ‘Thappad Padte The, Duffer Hai…’


Bollywood actor and politician Sunny Deol is currently riding high on the success of his latest release ‘Gadar 2’. The film has shattered major box office records bringing back the tag of a superstar to the actor. While the movie is still running successfully, Sunny appeared on Ranveer Allahbadia’s podcast where he reflected upon his childhood days.

Talking to Ranveer, the actor revealed that he was dyslexic as a kid. He was referred to as ‘duffer’ for not being able to study and used to get slapped for not scoring well in his exams. Sunny, in fact, admitted that he still struggles to read and write properly and sometimes the words seem all jumbled up to him. The actor stated:

“I was dyslexic as a child. Back then, we didn’t even know what that meant! Thappad padte the, duffer hai, padhai nahi aati. Even now when it comes to reading, sometimes the words seem all jumbled up.”

Furthermore, Sunny spoke about the time when people used to ask him to use a teleprompter during public gatherings. He disclosed that he refused using it by saying that they can tell him what to say and he will try to speak the same. The actor also added that he had a very high IQ in childhood. He quoted:

“I had a very high IQ because in school, they tested me and my IQ was over 160 or something. I used to stay away from talking publicly in the initial years of my career. Whenever they used to hand me over the mic, I was like ‘Kya bolun’.”

At the present moment, Sunny Deol is impressing the audiences as Tara Singh with ‘Gadar 2’ which is a sequel to his 2001 hit ‘Gadar: Ek Prem Katha’. Besides Sunny, the film also stars Ameesha Patel as Sakina, Utkarsh Sharma as Charanjeet aka Jeete, and Manish Wadhwa as the antagonist. It is helmed by Anil Sharma. The movie released on August 11, and by far has collected over Rs 600 crore at the ticket windows.
