Suriya Set To Make His Bollywood Debut In Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s Karna

Suriya is one of the most versatile actors who predominantly works in the Tamil cinema industry. Over the past decade, he has portrayed some amazing characters on screen that fans now like to call iconic. Currently, the Jai Bhim actor is making headlines, as according to the latest report, he is all set to make his Bollywood debut with Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s upcoming movie Karna.
According to reports, the director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s movie Karna is based on the Mahabharata story. The director chose Suriya to play the main lead, portraying the role of Karna in his dream movie.
Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra is one of the most popular directors in Bollywood. He has earlier directed popular films like Delhi-6, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, and Toofan. Apart from these, his 2006 movie Rang De Basanti broke all opening box office records in India upon its release, becoming the country’s highest-grossing film in its opening weekend and holding the highest opening-day collections for a Hindi film.
Earlier this year, news went viral that the two would be collaborating. The rumours were strengthened when Suriya was spotted with the director once again recently. However, there is no official confirmation yet.
As per reports, Karna is speculated to be a big-budget film. According to rumours, the movie will be shot in two parts and is likely to start production sometime next year.
Suriya was last seen in a full-fledged role in the 2022 action-thriller film Etharkkum Thunindavan, directed by Pandiraj. After that, the actor was seen in the cameo role of Rolex in Lokesh Kanagaraj’s superhit film Vikram. Suriya was also seen in a guest appearance in R. Madhavan’s biographical drama film Rocketry: A Nambi Effect.
However, he will soon be seen in the upcoming period action drama film Kanguva. The movie is directed and written by Siva and Adi Narayana respectively. It is produced jointly by K. E. Gnanavel Raja, V. Vamsi Krishna Reddy, and Pramod Uppalapati under the banners of Studio Green and UV Creations. The film features Suriya in five roles, along with an ensemble cast that includes Disha Patani and Bobby Deol, alongside Natarajan Subramaniam, Yogi Babu, Redin Kingsley, Kovai Sarala, Anandaraj, Ravi Raghavendra, K. S. Ravikumar, and B. S. Avinash. Kanguva is reported to be released theatrically in early 2024.
