Actress Amruta Khanvilkar has proved her talent time and again, not only with Marathi films but in Bollywood as well. She is known for her performance in movies such as Raazi, Satyameva Jayate, and Malang. She is also a talented dancer. Today, on November 23, Amruta is celebrating her 39th birthday. On her special day, let us take a look at how she once transformed herself physically for a role. For the 2022 Marathi film musical film Chandramukhi, where Amruta played the lead, she gained 8 kgs. Being a fitness freak and health-conscious actress, gaining so much weight did not come easy to her. She played the challenging role of a Lavani dancer in Chandramukhi. In an earlier interview with a media portal, Amruta Khanvilkar spoke about her weight gain struggle. She even stated many people thought she was pregnant.
“In our house, we are all fitness freaks. I gained 8 kgs for Chandramukhi. When I started preparing for it, my mother started feeding me the food that was given to my younger sister when she was pregnant,” she said, adding: “After seeing my photos, one rumour started spreading that ‘Is there any good news during the lockdown?’ I started getting messages. Finally, I had to keep saying that I was preparing for a film, without announcing the name.”
Amruta Khanvilkar also said that portraying the character of Chandra in the film was a life-altering experience. “Good things come to those who wait. Yes, this is my first ever title role and I am so glad it’s coming now. Because it has the perfect mixture of dance and acting. Two things that define me as a performer. All the experience I have today as an actor has made me ready for Chandramukhi,” she said in an interview.
Chandramukhi courted controversy when actress Manasi Naik said that she was the one who was first offered the titular role. Clearing the air, the film’s director Prasad Oak said, “Ever since I started thinking of an actress for the lead role in this film, the only actress I had in mind as a director was Amruta Khanvilkar. I have not considered any other actress.”
