Salaar Awaits Govt Approval As Producers Push For Ticket Price Hike, Extra Shows

Salaar is gearing up for release in theatres on December 22.

As the opening collections have become crucial for the film’s overall standing, the producers and distributors have sought extra shows and a hike in the ticket price to gain the hype of Day 1 of release.

Prabhas is all set to enthral audiences with Salaar Part 1: Ceasefire, scheduled for release on December 22. The Telugu film industry anticipates the impact of recent political changes in Telangana following Revanth Reddy’s oath as the 2nd Chief Minister of the state. Recognised pan-India, Telugu cinema has often clashed with big-budget Bollywood films, making opening collections critical for the film’s overall success. To heighten the hype on release day, producers and distributors are requesting extra shows and a ticket price hike.

Mythri Movie Distributors LLP, the distribution unit of Telugu film production house Mythri Movie Makers, has acquired the distribution rights for Salaar in the Nizam region. They’ve approached the newly formed government with specific requests. According to Telugu industry tracker Aakashvani on Twitter, the production house seeks a Rs 100 hike in ticket prices for both single-screen theatres and multiplexes. Additionally, they’ve requested permission for six shows on Day 1, starting from 4 am across Nizam, and special shows at selected screens on Day 1, beginning at 1 am.

If granted, the ticket price for single-screen theatres will be Rs 290, while multiplexes will charge a maximum of Rs 413. The previous Telangana government, led by K Chandrasekhar Rao, had granted special permission for a 4 am early morning show for Prabhas’ last film, Adipurush.

The decision is pending government approval, and bookings will open only after receiving the green light. Salaar Part 1: Ceasefire has been awarded an ‘A’ certificate by the CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification) with a runtime locked at 2 hours and 55 minutes. Directed by Prashanth Neel and backed by Hombale Films, the action drama features Prabhas alongside Prithviraj Sukumaran, Shruti Haasan, and Jagapathi Babu in lead roles.

The film’s release and subsequent performance at the box office will be closely watched as the Telugu industry navigates potential challenges amid political changes in the state.
