Swatantrya Veer Savarkar Box Office Collection Day 10: Crosses 15 Crores Mark On Second Sunday
After being in theatres for 10 days, Swatantrya Veer Savarkar has crossed the 15 crores mark. That’s an average of 1.50 crore per day for the film, which opened at 1.10 crore. The collections have been consistent, though what it required was to break out in a big way, at least in the opening weekend, and then have its weekday collections consistently more than the opening day, with the second weekend turning out to be even higher than the first weekend. This is how the films, which depend on word of mouth, end up eventually scoring well.
As I have repeatedly mentioned, Randeep Hooda has come up with a well-made, polished, classy biopic that has clear research going into it. However, it has been surrounded by a lot of films from the past [Shaitaan], present [Madgaon Express], and future [Crew, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire]. With audiences having so many choices, it’s a task in itself to divert their attention towards a product, especially when it offers entertainment of a different kind.
On Sunday, it did grow further to 1.75 crore, and the film is at least fighting it out since the collections are still bigger than they were on the opening day [1.10 crore]. That said, what the film really needed was to keep increasing in numbers every passing day so that it eventually finds itself in a much more comfortable situation. With 15.73 crores under its kitty so far, it all now boils down to the hold that it demonstrates today so that it can keep playing on till 10th April before Eid releases Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and Maidaan arrive.
