The film was directed by Ramesh Sippy and written by Salim-Javed. It was produced by Bachchan’s father, GP Sippy. Billed as an action-adventure, Sholay was released in 1975. During their chat, Big B recounted an incident from the movie’s climax when Dharmendra mistakenly fired a real gunshot. Fortunately, the bullet missed Amitabh Bachchan.
