“Many characters that I played on TV have changed my perspective” – Esha Kansara

Actress Esha Kansara needs no introduction. From Hindi TV shows to Gujarati cinema, she has won hearts across mediums and carved a niche for herself. While she has portrayed many different roles, her character Amrita Prasad in ‘Zindagi Mere Ghar Aana’ touched many hearts.

Recently, during a roundtable streaming on Shemaroo Gujarati Manorajan’s YouTube Channel, the actress shared insights into how her TV characters have influenced her perspective on life and how they are aiding her in her other regional projects as well.

Opening up about this, Esha said, “‘Zindagi Mere Ghar Aana,’ where I played Amrita, was a show that changed my perception, and that character was close to me. Actually, most of the characters on TV, be it Misri from ‘Maddam Sir,’ I never thought that I would ever be able to perform a grey character. She was bubbly but manipulative, so it wasn’t a negative character but a grey one. Many characters that I played on TV have changed my perspective, and I apply that when portraying Gujarati characters, and I’m enjoying it.”

The actress also shared her learnings from the industry and how the Switch On and Switch Off rule in 2023 has changed her life for the better. She expressed, “As an actor, I have learned that along with being talented and hardworking, you have to be very smart sometimes. We, as actors, go through a number of phases where choices differ, situations change, compromises happen, opinions come into play, and all of this suddenly matters a lot. For me, 2023 was a time when I knew that I was talented, but to prove it, I had to be smart enough to make those kinds of choices. Personally, I was quite consumed by what was happening around me, with my friends, family, and others. Also, it was a time when I was entering a new phase of my career, so I was preoccupied mentally with all of that. I learned how to switch on and switch off, that I can’t stay in one place for a very long time; I have to be quick with my switch on and switch off, and I’m loving this phase.”

“Now, I don’t have the patience to be stuck in one place, not in a bad way. I have to keep going and shuffle between things. I want to balance my personal and professional life. I don’t want to be successful only in my personal life throughout the year and then sit at home sulking that I haven’t done anything” she concluded.

The roundtable, which can be streamed on Shemaroo Gujarati Manorajan’s YouTube channel, also showcases notable figures such as Aarti Patel, Manasi Parekh, Aarohi Patel, Esha Kansara, Puja Joshi, and Kinjal Rajpriya engaging in a candid discussion about the nuances of the industry.
