Border Clocks 27 Years: JP Dutta’s Daughter Nidhi Dutta Drops BTS Video From Sandese Aate Hain

JP Dutta’s multi-starrer blockbuster film Border clocked 27 years of its theatrical release. The 1997 released movie, is dubbed as “India’s biggest war film”. To celebrate its anniversary, JP Dutta’s daughter, producer Nidhi Dutta shared a behind-the-scenes video from Border on June 12. The throwback clip was recorded during the making of the iconic track Sandese Aate Hain, crooned by Sonu Nigam and Roopkumar Rathod.
In the clip, JP Dutta can be seen sitting behind the camera and reminding the choreography for the song to the actors—standing in a linear formation. As the camera pans, we can see Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Puneet Issar, Akshaye Khanna, Suniel Shetty, and Sunny Deol, all dressed in military uniform.
On the 27th anniversary, Sunny Deol unveiled the big news for all the Border fans out there. The Bollywood star announced the sequel of the 1997 war actioner. Sunny Deol, along with the official Instagram page of T-Series, dropped an announcement teaser video on Instagram. The note along with the clip revealed that the film will be helmed by Kesari’s director Anurag Singh. It added that Border director JP Dutta and his daughter Nidhi Dutta will back the sequel via JP Films. The father-daughter duo will jointly produce the film along with Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar’s T-Series.
The announcement video was shared along with Sunny Deol’s narration in the background. The actor can be heard saying, “27 saal pehle ek fauji ne vada kiya tha ki vo vapas aayega. Ussi vaade ko poora karne, hindustan ki mitti ko apna salaam kehne, aa raha hai.” Sharing the video, the actor wrote, “Ek fauji apne 27 saal purane waade ko pura karne, aa raha hai phirse. India’s biggest war film, Border 2. Produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, JP Dutta & Nidhi Dutta. It will be directed by Anurag Singh.”
Talking about Border, the JP Dutta directorial revolved around the Battle of Longewala during the India-Pakistan 1971 war. The film boasted an ensemble cast. Apart from Sunny Deol, the film featured Jackie Shroff, Akshaye Khanna, Suniel Shetty, Sudesh Berry, Puneet Issar, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Tabu, Raakhee, Pooja Bhatt and Sharbani Mukherjee among others. The movie, which ended up being one of the highest-grossing movies of 1997, gave many evergreen songs to the Hindi film industry including Sandese Aate Hain, Ae Jaate Hue Lamhon and Mere Dushman Mere Bhai.
