Bad Newz Movie Review; Vicky Kaushal Steals The Show
Rating: 3/5
Director: Anand Tiwari
Cast: Vicky Kaushal, Triptii Dimri and Ammy Virk
Storyline:
Ambitious chef Saloni Bagga (Triptii Dimri) gets married to Akhil Chadha (Vicky Kaushal) who is charming as hell but still very much a Mama’s boy. When the two separate over difference of opinion, Saloni meets her endearing boss Gurbir Pannu (Ammy Virk).
Life takes a turn when after a wild one night-stand with both her ex-husband, and her boss, Saloni gets pregnant with twins. But it is a rare (and true) medical phenomenon of heteropaternal superfecundation – Meaning one twin is fathered by Akhil and one by Gurbir.
Watch Bad Newz to see the hilarious chaos unravel as Akhil and Gurbir fight for Saloni’s affections and for the right to be a father to the twins in her belly!
Bad Newz Movie Review:
Vicky Kaushal steals the show – he gives a powerhouse performance in Bad Newz. He has a sizzling hot chemistry with Triptii, and his comic timing is on point and he gets some of the best one-liners in the film. Think Rocky Randhawa, but a little toned down with less flashy clothes but still wearing his heart on the sleeve… and you have the adorable Akhil Chadha.Vicky is equally good in the emotionally intense, tear-jerking moments of the film.
And Tauba tauba those dance moves – the ease and swagger rolling off him! We stan Vicky Kaushal the dancer!
Bad Newz Movie Review:
Triptii Dimri, who has been absolutely exceptional in movies like Bulbbul and Qala, gets a meaty role as Saloni. But unfortunately she disappoints – her acting falls flat and feels rather bland and one note here. Her comic timing is off too. Inspite of being at the heart of things, Triptii underwhelms in portraying the conflicted, pregnant mother. Vicky does the heavy lifting in the scenes to keep things interesting.
Ammy Virk and Vicky Kaushal’s rivalry is fun to watch, but despite a substantial and charismatic screentime Ammy is overshadowed by Vicky. While the comedy is reasonably timepass, the build-up to the big, final dramatic moment is sacrificed in favour of keeping the ludicrous situations going. Vicky shines in the emotional climax of Bad Newz.
Seasoned actor Sheeba Chaddha is flawless in the limited time she gets. Overall, Bad Newz still makes for an entertaining ride indeed with fun songs, and a quirky plot infused with wacky humor and balanced with some melodrama.
