Following her exit from YG Entertainment, BLACKPINK star Jennie made her solo debut with the music video Mantra.

Jennie is finally back and with a banger! The BLACKPINK vocalist has kicked off her much-awaited solo era with the ultimate anthem, Mantra, which debuted on Thursday, October 10. Earlier in the promotional images and music video, the 28-year-old artist was seen being surrounded by swanky convertibles and sports cars, adding more to the anticipation among fans.

As the video opens, Mantra gives a nod to the 1998 comedy Rush Hour, featuring a child singing along to Jennie’s new track. It further transitions to the K-pop star showcasing her various bold looks as she steps out of a vintage car, followed by a performance of the song’s choreography. “This that pretty-girl mantra, this that flaunts ya, just touched down in LA / Pretty girls don’t do drama ‘less we wanna, it’ll be depending on the day,” she belts out in the chorus.

Fans are going head over heels, witnessing Jennie back in action. It is pertinent to note that Mantra marks her first solo release under her own label, Odd Atelier, following her partnership with Columbia Records. She established the label in late 2023 after deciding not to renew her solo contract with YG Entertainment. Recently, YG also revealed that the girl group plans to release a new album and embark on a world tour in 2025, marking their first music as a quartet since their September 2022 album ‘Born Pink.’

Speaking to Vogue, Jennie described Mantra as a “fun, upbeat anthem” that celebrates girl power and aims to inspire every woman. Fans looking forward to catching her perform live can tune in to Jimmy Kimmel Live, as Jennie will be performing Mantra on the episode airing on October 15, states Allkpop.

It is worth mentioning that the BLACKPINK vocalist has enjoyed quite a remarkable time in recent years. Besides her solo releases, she also made her acting debut in the HBO series The Idol in 2023.
