Wayne Osmond, a key member and the second-oldest sibling of the famous Osmond family of singers, has passed away at the age of 73. His death was confirmed by his brother and fellow band member, Merrill Osmond, who shared that Wayne passed away on Wednesday at a hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah, after suffering a massive stroke.

Daughter Amy Cook paid tribute to her father on Instagram after confirming the news. She wrote, “Wayne Osmond, beloved husband and father, passed away peacefully last night surrounded by his loving wife and five children. His legacy of faith, music, love, and laughter have influenced the lives of many people around the world.”

Wayne Osmond, who was part of the Osmond Brothers barbershop quartet since 1958 alongside his siblings Alan, Merrill, and Jay, became known for his musical talents and performances. The group was discovered while performing at Disneyland and soon gained popularity, even appearing in television specials about the park. The Osmonds later became iconic teen idols with the addition of Donny, Wayne’s younger brother. Their hit single, “One Bad Apple,” topped the Billboard 100 for five weeks, marking a significant milestone in their career. Although Donny left the group in 1979 to pursue a duet with sister Marie, the Osmonds continued to perform as a quartet.

Wayne married Kathlyn White, a former Miss Utah, in 1974, and the couple had five children. Over the years, Wayne faced multiple health challenges, including a brain tumor as a child and a recurrence of ependymoma, the same cancer, in 1997. In 2012, he suffered a stroke that impacted his ability to play guitar.

Donny posted on Instagram, “Wayne brought so much light, laughter, and love to everyone who knew him, especially me. He was the ultimate optimist and was loved by everyone. I’m sure I speak on behalf of every one of us siblings when I state that we were fortunate to have Wayne as a brother.”
