Shakira Hospitalised, Cancels Peru Event Last Minute Due To Abdominal Pain

Colombian singer-songwriter Shakira recently embarked on her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran world tour. However, it took an unfortunate turn when she ended up being hospitalised due to an abdominal issue. Due to this, Shakira was forced to postpone her concert in Peru. Later, the 48-year-old singer took to social media to inform everyone about the same, saying that she had to visit the emergency room suddenly and was still under medical care.
In a message posted on X (formerly known as Twitter), Shakira expressed regret over the cancellation. “I am sorry to inform you all that last night I had to go to the ER for an abdominal issue and am currently hospitalised,” she wrote.
Doctors advised her to avoid performing, as she wasn’t in the right condition to take the stage.
Shakira expressed her deep disappointment over the postponement, saying she had been eagerly looking forward to performing for her fans in Peru. She reassured them that her team and the concert promoters were already working on a new date. “I love you all, and I appreciate your understanding,” she said.
Despite the setback, the Hips Don’t Lie singer remains hopeful about returning to the stage soon. She expressed optimism about being discharged by Monday and resuming her tour. If all goes well, she is set to perform in Peru that same evening before heading to Colombia for a series of shows.
Shakira kicked off her tour in Rio de Janeiro just days after winning a Grammy for Best Latin Pop Album, which she dedicated to migrants in the U.S. facing deportation under President Donald Trump. She also took the stage at the Grammys earlier this month.
One of the most celebrated Latin artists of all time, Shakira is set to perform nearly 50 shows across Latin America by the end of June, with more dates scheduled in the U.S. and Canada.
