Akshay Kumar Upcoming Movies That Are Remake of South Indian Movies
Bollywood filmmakers have been copying or rather say remaking South Indian movies for a long time. They have copied hundreds of Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada movies over the last two decades and this isn’t going to stop anytime soon. Remaking South Indian movies have become a hit formula for filmmakers and actors. Even a superstar like Akshay Kumar is coming up with a Hindi remake every second year. His movies Laxmii, Holiday, Boss, Rowdy Rathode were all remakes of hit south Indian movies. Khiladi Kumar will continue to work on this winning formula. Many of Akshay Kumar’s upcoming movies will be remakes of south Indian movies. Let’s have a look at the details.
Bachchan Pandey (Released in March 2022)
Though the producers denied it, Bachchan Pandey is a remake of the 2014 Tamil movie Jigarthanda which itself was inspired by the 2006 South Korean movie A Dirty Carnival.
Directed by Kartik Subbaraj, Jigarthanda stars Siddharth,Bobby Simha, Lakshmi Menon, Karunakaran and Guru Somasundaram. It has already been remade in Telugu (Gaddalakonda Ganesh) and Kannada (Jigarthanda).
Cuttputlli (Released in Sep 2022)
If you love thriller movies then chances are less that you haven’t watched Ratsasan yet. The Tamil thriller starring Vishnu Vishal is one of the best thriller movies. Ratsasan has a Hindi remake starring Akshay Kumar, Rakulpreet Singh, and Sargun Mehta stars in the lead rolse.
Selfiee
Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi have joined hands for the Hindi remake of the 2019 Malayalam comedy-drama movie Driving Licence. Raj Mehta is directing Selfiee with Karan Johar and Prithviraj Sukumaran backing it. The movie releases on Feb 24, 2023.
The original movie stars Prithviraj Sukumaran, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Miya George, Deepti Sati, Saiju Kurup, and Suresh Krishna.
Soorarai Pottru
Akshay Kumar will play the lead role in the Hindi remake of Soorarai Pottru, the Tamil movie starring Suriya. Original director Sudha Kongara has directed the remake, partly inspired by events from the life of Simplifly Deccan founder G. R. Gopinath. The remake also stars Radhika Madan.
