Ridhi Dogra shares what compelled her to do Lakadbaggha

By Sameer Salunkhe

Actress Ridhi Dogra is gearing up for the release of her feature film debut Lakadbaggha. In the action-thriller releasing on 13th January, Ridhi will be seen playing a CBI officer and doing Krav Maga. In this candid interview with CINE BLITZ, the actress talks about her transition from TV to OTT and films, the big changes and revelations as an actor, and what compelled her to do Lakadbaggha.

How is the experience of OTT and films after doing television for so long?

It’s a lot to take in. I’m enjoying the work, the thing that matters the most – the art of it. I am grateful that I’m getting the opportunity to work with some amazing people and do the work that I always wanted to do and that too on a regular basis. I am happy about that.

What compelled you to do Lakadbaggha?

When I look at a project, I look at how it is going to help me personally. My choices come from inside out. I respect people who are convinced and believe in what they’re doing. I like to associate with people who don’t waste their time and energy in doing the non-sense that goes on in our industry. I look out for people who are committed to do their work wholeheartedly.

When I met Anshuman, I saw that he was very committed to making this film. I wanted to be a part of this film in whatever way I could contribute because I have always spoken against animal cruelty on social media. But here, I had the opportunity to be an integral part of a project which gives voice to the voiceless.

The best way to give any message is through entertainment. The script was interesting, and I was intrigued that it has a lot of action. I was happy to learn Krav Maga for my character in the film. But what compelled me was Anshuman and Victor’s (director) commitment to the story.

What are you doing differently as an actor in films as opposed to what you used to do in television?

My process has always been the same. In television, the characters are developed every day. You’re getting to live with the character and environment every day. So, if you’re an intelligent actor and if you’re putting your heart and soul into it, you can do wonders with the character. But the difference was that in TV, I think I was the only one doing that.

But when I started doing OTT with Asur, I was a part of a team where everyone was working like that. Now, I have a team that challenges me, not just me challenging myself. So, that’s the big difference.

If you were to convince a stranger to watch Lakadbaggha, what would you tell?

If you love animals then you should watch this film because it’s about people who are fighting against animal cruelty. And if they say that they don’t like animals, I’d tell them that there are people like you in the film too. You should see who and what they are. And the film has some brilliant action sequences.
