The series follows Shaun Murphy, a young autistic surgeon with savant syndrome from the small city of Casper, Wyoming, where he had a troubled past. Therefore, he moves to San Jose, California, to work at the famous St. Bonaventure Hospital.

Will there be The Good Doctor Season 7?

Well, it was no surprise when ABC renewed the series for a seventh season even before the sixth season concluded on the network on May 1, 2023. The series was renewed for a brand new season in April 2023.

The series, produced by Sony Pictures Television and ABC Signature, remains a solid anchor of ABC’s Monday lineup. The Good Doctor ranks as the #1 entertainment series in Monday’s 10 pm hour this season in Adults 18-49, tying NBC’s Quantum Leap. 

Discussions are ongoing over the proposed Good Doctor spinoff, The Good Lawyer, and it’s looking promising for a pickup, Deadline reported. The spinoff, led by Kennedy McMann and Felicity Huffman, would mark Desperate Housewives’ alumna Huffman’s return to TV.

When will The Good Doctor Season 7 arrive?

The last six seasons started airing in the fall. The same is expected this time around. The filming is expected to begin in August 2023. If filming proceeds as planned over the coming months and ABC decides to release the series without undue delay, we will see The Good Doctor Season 7 premiering in the fall of 2023, most probably in October.

What will be the plot of The Good Doctor Season 7?

Every season, The Good Doctor becomes better and continues to win over new audiences. The seventh season will definitely continue where Season 6’s final episode, “Love’s Labour,” left off. In that episode, viewers saw how Danny, Jared, and Jerome were involved in a multi-vehicle collision while transporting a patient to the hospital, which left Danny in critical condition. Danny refuses to take painkillers due to his addiction, but Jordan is forced to after realizing that Danny’s pain is endangering his life. In order to heal with his family’s help and support and avoid relapsing, Danny decides to move back to Texas.

The upcoming season should focus on Dr Shaun Murphy and Lea’s experiences as brand-new and first-time parents. The next season is also expected to explore the challenges of the relationship between Dr Schiff and Shaun.

The next season will also see the outcome of Dr Glassman’s health condition and how it will affect his relationship with the other members of the hospital, especially Dr Murphy.
