Silambarasan TR aka Simbu, following the release of his last film Pathu Thala, announced his next project. It was tentatively titled STR 48. The film, produced by Kamal Haasan, is touted to be a historical drama. After the announcement of STR 48, there was no official update about the film which led fans to speculate that the project has been shelved. This is not true. In a recent update, the makers of the film treated the audience to an exciting update about the film. Earlier, it was reported that the makers of STR 48 are planning to unveil the first look of the film on the eve of STR’s birthday. Simbu will be celebrating his 40th birthday tomorrow, on February 3. The reports turned out to be true. The makers have unveiled a poster of the much-anticipated film. The intriguing poster shows Simbu in a double role, hinting at the film’s story revolving around two brothers. Sharing the poster, the production house – Raaj Kamal Films International – wrote: “Unleash the valour and witness this remarkable journey from #STR48. Wishing @SilambarasanTR_ a happy birthday!”
Reports suggest that Desingu Periyasamy has come on board to direct the film, which is being produced by Kamal Haasan. He plans to invest significantly in its production. In addition to that, Silambarasan TR is undergoing special training in Thailand for the film. Kamal Haasan is also expected to make a cameo appearance in the film.
Pooja Hegde has been cast to play the female lead alongside Silambarasan TR in STR 48. Devi Sri Prasad has been tasked with composing music for the film. The highly anticipated film is expected to go on floors in February.
Notably, legal issues related to the film Corona Kumar led STR 48 to face a hiatus. With fans speculating if the film has been dropped, makers assured them that Kamal Haasan’s production venture has not been shelved.
