Mukesh Khanna, the veteran actor, producer and creator of the iconic Indian superhero Shaktimaan, is set to bring the popular series to the Television screens once again. The actor played the role of the beloved superhero between 1997 and 2005. Apart from that, he also appeared as Pitamah Bheeshma in BR Chopra’s Mahabharat and several films like Maidaan-E-Jung, Taaqat, Barsaat, International Khiladi, Hera Pheri and others.
Despite appearing in several big-budgeted projects, the actor’s career graph didn’t see an upward trend. He went on to work in more than 60 films and most of them were flops.
In 1997, the actor turned producer and launched his own production house, Bheeshm International, under which he produced the popular show Shaktimaan, which became a huge hit, especially among kids. He also produced shows like Aaryamaan and Sautela, which received decent responses from the viewers.
Later, the actor-producer also started his own YouTube channel with the name Bheeshm International which currently has around 1.31 million subscribers.
According to a report by Koimoi, the veteran actor currently holds a net worth of Rs 22 Crore which consists of his income from his vast span of work as an actor and producer in the entertainment industry and also his earnings from his YouTube channel.
Meanwhile, the actor recently announced that he will be returning as the OG Indian superhero Shaktimaan which received mixed reactions from the audiences. While some fans are happy to see him reprising his iconic role, some of them felt disappointed and accused him of allegedly not being able to move on from the character till now.
A feature film on Shaktimaan was also announced in 2022. Since then, the fans have been waiting to see which new-age actor will play the iconic hero. Earlier, several rumours suggested that Ranveer Singh might portray the superhero in the upcoming film. Mukesh Khanna dismissed these claims, revealing that the Befikre actor “tried to convince him” at a meeting. Referring to the actor’s nude photoshoot in 2022, Khanna remarked that an actor with such an “image” is unfit for the revered superhero character.
Furthermore, actor Tiger Shroff was also speculated to play the role, but Khanna quickly dismissed the idea, calling him “a child among children.”
An official announcement regarding the casting of Shaktimaan feature film is still awaited.
