Amitabh Bachchan Called Abhishek And Aishwarya Rai’s Daughter Aaradhya ‘Laxmi Ratna’: ‘We Brought Betiya Home…’

Amitabh Bachchan opened up on Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan’s daughter, Aaradhya Bachchan, a week after she was born.

Just a week after the birth of Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan’s daughter, Aaradhya Bachchan, in November 2011, the Bachchan family – Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan along with the couple — decided to address the media’s curiosity while still keeping their personal lives private. Instead of a public appearance, they opted for a press conference at their office, ABC Corp, in Juhu, Mumbai. Amitabh spoke on behalf of the family, thanking the media for respecting their privacy during such an intimate moment.

The elated grandfather said, “Today, we brought betiya home. We are very happy. Hamare ghar Laxmi aayi hai, Abhishek, Aishwarya and betiya are all well and in good health. Life changes when a new life comes to your house. I would say Laxmi Ratna has arrived in our house.”

When asked about the newest addition to the Bachchan parivar, who had yet to be named at that time, Amitabh revealed that their first trip with her was to their home, Pratiksha, which holds sentimental value as the family’s first residence. “We first took her to Pratiksha because that is our first home. After taking blessings from my ma and babuji (Amitabh’s parents), we have come to Jalsa,” Amitabh said, as per Rediff.

When asked if his acting career would affect his time with the baby, Abhishek had said, “I am a child of two actors. They did not have any problem spending time with me. I don’t remember any occasion, any school play, any sporting day that my father and mother were not there for me,” Abhishek replied. “I never felt that void or vacuum when I was growing up. I will get very good training from the best (points to his father). So I think I will be able to cope.”

Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai became friends while working on films like Dhai Akshar Prem Ke (2000) and Kuch Naa Kaho (2003). Their friendship turned into romance during the filming of Umrao Jaan in 2005-2006. They got married on April 20, 2007, in a grand ceremony.
