Despite their on-screen conflicts in Bad Newz, Vicky Kaushal and Ammy Virk formed a close-knit friendship in real life.
This Friendship Day, a heartwarming behind-the-scenes photo of Ammy Virk and Vicky Kaushal has surfaced, showcasing their off-screen bromance and shared love for food. Despite their on-screen conflicts, these Punjabi stars have formed a close-knit friendship in real life. Their bond strengthened during the filming of their movie and was evident throughout its promotions. Their mutual passion for food saw them indulging in local delicacies in various cities during their promotional tour. They even broke the internet with a playful reel inspired by cringeworthy TikTok trends, proving that their friendship goes beyond work.
Reflecting on their time together, Ammy Virk shared exclusively with News18 Showsha, “It was one of my most fun on-set experiences with my brother Vicky Kaushal. I loved promoting our film as we had a blast in every city, enjoying delicious food and listening to great music together. He is a pure and genuine soul. It’s rare to find people like him.”
Currently, Ammy Virk is basking in the success of ‘Bad Newz,’ which has crossed the 100 crore mark. He is set to deliver another blockbuster in August with his upcoming film ‘Khel Khel Mein,’ co-starring Akshay Kumar and Taapsee Pannu. The film’s hilarious trailer, featuring Ammy’s witty one-liners, has already received much love from the audience.
Speaking about Bad Newz, within 2 weeks, the film has minted nearly Rs 50 Crores at the ticket window. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to his X handle to praise the film and wrote, “The weekend growth [58.56%] has come in… #BadNewz sees a significant upward trend on [second] Sat, bringing it closer to the ₹ 50 cr mark… This escalation in numbers is commendable given the stiff competition from the mighty #DeadpoolAndWolverine. [Week 2] Fri 2.22 cr, Sat 3.52 cr. Total: ₹ 49.86 cr. #India biz. #Boxoffice.”
Backed by producers Hiroo Yash Johar, Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, Amritpal Singh Bindra, and Anand Tiwari, Bad Newz is a rom-com that features a fresh trio of talents – Vicky Kaushal, Triptii Dimri, and Ammy Virk. The film’s offbeat storyline, where Dimri’s character finds out she’s expecting twins from two different fathers, portrayed by Kaushal and Virk, has intrigued audiences and sparked curiosity about the movie’s plot.
Vicky Kaushal has also been grabbing attention for his dance moves in the Tauba Tauba song. Besides this, his sizzling chemistry with Triptii in the intimate song Jaanam has also grabbed everyone’s attention. Directed by Anand Tiwari, Bad Newz also features Neha Dhupia.
News18 Showsha reviewed the film with 3 stars and wrote, “Vicky gives it his all to Akhil Chaddha, who seems like an extension of Vicky Sandhu or more appropriately, a mix of Vicky Sandhu and Rocky Randhawa. He maybe impish but he’s the greenest green flag, who loves selflessly with all his heart. It’s him who single-handedly tries to elevate this middling script. His comic timing is great but he surely deserved funnier dialogues. His banter with Ammy are pure gold. A special mention goes to the scene where Akhil and Gurbir meet for the first time at a doctor’s clinic to get their paternity tests done. Their chemistry, in all honesty, is richer than the one shared by Akhil and Saloni.”
