Baby John may face a fractured release due to Pushpa 2 juggernaut

Pushpa 2 is poised to become the highest Hindi grosser of all time and the first film to cross the Rs. 600 crore nett and Rs. 700 crore nett marks in Hindi. The film’s trending is phenomenal, and the distributor wants this strong showing to continue for a few more weeks during the Christmas and New Year holidays.

Pushpa 2‘s Hindi distributor, Anil Thadani (AA Films), demanded equal screens and shows on Christmas Day against Varun Dhawan’s Baby John, said a report in Bollywood Hungama. Since it’s a mid-week release, the one-week contract gives Thadani an edge over Kalees’ directorial, which means Baby John will face a fractured release.

A source informed the portal, “Baby John releases on a Wednesday to capitalize on the big Christmas holiday. However, Anil Thadani, distributor of Pushpa 2 – The Rule, has instructed all exhibitors that they must play an equal number of shows from Friday, December 20, to Thursday, December 26. This means they cannot reduce their showcasing of Pushpa 2 from Wednesday, December 25, to accommodate Baby John.”

The source added, “Anil Thadani has asked all exhibitors to provide written confirmation that this condition will be met. If they fail to do so, the RO, or release order, to screen Pushpa 2 – The Rule for the weekend, will not be issued. If the RO doesn’t materialize, theatres will not be able to showcase Pushpa 2 over this weekend.”
