After the grand success of The Kerala Story last year, the team has returned with yet another film, Bastar: The Naxal Story. Its trailer was unveiled yesterday and has managed to grab good eyeballs. But is the content powerful enough to boost the film’s box office potential as far as day 1 collection is concerned? Let’s discuss it below in detail.

The dream team of director Sudipto Sen, producer Vipul Amrutlal Shah, and actress Adah Sharma has come together yet again after the surprise blockbuster The Kerala Story. The film, upon its release, received mixed reviews, but at the Indian box office, it left everyone jaw-dropped with a collection of much beyond 200 crores net. Now, expectations are high for their upcoming release.
How’s the trailer of Bastar?
Honestly speaking, the trailer of Bastar lacks an overall impact, and even technically, it’s not up to the mark. Despite a strong subject of naxals in hand, the promo fails to leave that powerful punch in the viewers’ minds. At points, the violence and use of foul language seem unnecessary. However, there’s a section of viewers who have given a thumbs-up to the trailer.

While this story is being written, Bastar’s trailer is trending at 12th position on YouTube. So far, it has been liked by 47,000 users. So, the response has been decent so far.
Trailer’s impact at the box office
In the past, we have seen such subjects finding appreciation among a big section of the audience, and this one, too, will enjoy its own audience base. Other than the sensitive subject, Bastar is alleged to be a politically charged film ahead of the general elections. So, it might attract some controversies. But will it repeat the magic of The Kerala Story? The answer is no.
Unlike The Kashmir Files or The Kerala Story, Bastar lacks an undercurrent. On top of that, the trailer is just average. So, a collection of 3-4 crores is expected to be fetched at the Indian box office on day 1. If compared with The Kerala Story’s 8.03 crores, it’s not even half of it.
