Bobby Deol REVEALS Inspiration Behind Viral Jamal Kudu Dance Step From Animal

Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal earned about Rs 900 crore worldwide, making it one of the highest-grossing films of 2023. Along with several accolades, the action drama became a turning point in Bobby Deol’s career reigniting his stardom. Audiences and critics were impressed by his menacing portrayal as Abrar Haque, a mute villain in Animal. Another thing that caught the fan’s attention was his dance moves to the Jamal Kudu song during his entry. His moves as he balanced a drink on his went viral, sparking a trend on social media. In an interview, Bobby Deol recently shared the inspiration behind his viral dance moves.

During his appearance on the third edition of Screen, Bobby Deol recalled the sequence of Jamal Kudu. While Sandeep narrated the scene to him, he noted, “This is your wedding, and you have to dance.” To this, he replied that he could not perform choreographed steps and started dancing in his signature style. Sandeep said, “Cut, I don’t want my character to look like Bobby Deol; I want it to look like Abrar.”

He next went to Saurabh Sachdeva, the actor who played his brother in Animal and asked how would he dance. As he started dancing, Bobby noted that it transported him to his childhood and memories started surfacing in his mind.

Bobby recalled the time when they would go to Punjab during their holidays. Expressing what inspired him to dance that way, he mentioned, “At night, the men would drink and suddenly a music would play and they would dance to it by putting glasses and bottles to their head.” He thus thought of trying it as he knew the style very well.

Looking back at the popularity of his dance steps, Bobby mentioned, “I had no idea my style of dancing would become so popular. I just put the glass on my head and I started dancing, next thing I knew, it just went viral. It’s just amazing.”

Bobby Deol made a comeback with films such as Race 3, Yamla Pagla Deewana: Phir Se and Housefull 4. His web series debut with Aashram on MX Player brought him fame. This year, the actor made a stint in South Indian cinema with Kanguva, starring Suriya. He will next be seen as the antagonist in Yash Raj Film’s Alpha alongside Alia Bhatt and Sharvari.
