“Cubicles is one of the most fun projects I have worked on” – Ayushi Gupta

After pursuing a degree in electrical engineering, Ayushi Gupta decided to follow her heart and pursue a career in acting. To gather an understanding of the industry and how things work behind the camera, Ayushi worked as a casting assistant on shows like ‘Sacred Games’. The fourth season of ‘Cubicles’, one of the most successful shows she has been a part of, dropped on Sony LIV a couple of days. Ayushi entered the show in its second season and has been a part of it since then.

Talking about her experience of being a part of this TVF-produced series, Ayushi says, “’It is one of the most fun projects I have worked on. Though I studied engineering, I never worked as an engineer. ‘Cubicles’ gave me the opportunity to experience how it is like to work in the corporate world. My closest friends work in the corporate space. While I spoke to them to get some ideas, the makers had done a splendid job at creating this world. I, therefore, did not have to do extensive research. Before I joined the series in its second season, I had seen the season. That also helped me understand the kind of space I was getting into”.

In the fourth season of ‘Cubicles’, one sees Sunaina, the character played by Ayushi go through a financial crisis. This particular track happens to be one of the highlights of the show. ‘Cubicles’ is not the first show featuring Ayushi to have four seasons. Ayushi has also done ‘Hostel Daze’ which has had four seasons. While some actors might find the process of playing the same character in multiple seasons of a show monotonous, Sunaina does not believe in this notion.

“In a show like ‘Hostel Daze’, there was a lot of transformation. So, I didn’t encounter any sense of monotony while playing Nabomita. I can say the same about ‘Cubicles’. With time, our equation with our co-actors evolve. We are also evolving in our personal and professional lives. That reflects on screen. Since the characters keep evolving with every season, they appear fresh. The world of the show has been created so well. After every season, including this one, I receive lots of messages from the audience. They tell me how much they relate to the show and its characters. The creators deserve all the credit for this.
