Even word-of-mouth of the audience is highly favorable, resulting in more people flocking to theatres. If we talk about the audience segment, one interesting statistic has come out related to the footfalls at the North American box office.

Attracting adult audience

As per the report in Deadline, Dune 2 is majorly attracting the audience over the age of 25. For previews in North America, around 77% of attendees were males over 25. Females over 25 formed 24% of the audience. Due to the same reason, the domestic projection at the box office has come down a bit.

Coming to the latest box office update, Dune 2 is closing its opening day (Friday) at $30-$34 million in the domestic market, which also includes $12 million from Thursday previews. Enjoying a run in 4,071 theaters, the film is aiming for an opening weekend score of $70-$80 million. Earlier, the collection was expected to be in the higher range.

Dune 2 in the overseas market

Trade experts were quite enthusiastic about the film’s performance in the overseas market, and so far, the actual result is completely in favor. As per the latest update, after adding 42 more international circuits on Thursday, the Dune sequel has raked in $20.8 million so far from a total of 55 international circuits. On Friday, it added Spain, the UK, and some other small centers.

Talking about the top openers for Dune 2 on Thursday were Germany ($2.4 million), Australia ($1.3 million), Mexico ($696K), Poland ($361K) and Brazil ($331K). If we talk about the top contributors over Wednesday and Thursday, France is leading the way with $3.5 million, followed by Germany ($2.4 million) and Korea ($2.1 million).

After combining the domestic and overseas gross, Dune 2 stands at $50.8-$54.8 million. Let’s see how far it goes at the end of the weekend.
