Suga has been entangled in the DUI controversy since early August after he was found riding under the influence of alcohol.

has been over a month since BTS’s Suga got embroiled in a major controversy following his drunk-driving incident, leading him to face intense media scrutiny. While a larger section of fans continue to support the K-pop star, they have also declared their strong backing for all seven BTS members. Amid the heated discussion online, UPICK’s latest advertisement allegedly excluded Suga, leaving fans extremely furious. Notably, the group recently won the Best K-pop Global Idol Group through UPICK’s voting last month.

While the development launched a war among major K-pop fandoms, supporters earnestly took part in the voting sprees that included the likes of BTS, EXO, WayV, SEVENTEEN, ENHYPHEN, NCT WISH, ZEROBASEONE, RIIZE, PLAVE, and &TEAM.

After an intense battle, BTS eventually emerged victorious and landed the advertisement spot at the subway station in Seoul. While things seemed all nice for ARMYs, the final draft of the commercial left them stunned. The video, which was expected to compile each member’s identity and role, excluded Suga. While RM was introduced as the BTS leader and best rapper, Jin as Our Universe, J-Hope as the genius dancer, Jimin as the best dancer, V as the best visual idol and lastly, Jungkook as the golden visual idol.

Fans were expecting Suga’s name right before J-Hope, as per the group’s usual chronology, but the video completely omits any such mention of the second-eldest member. This instantly sparked a heated discussion with fans calling out UPICK for being disrespectful towards the idol.

A fan wrote, “BTS is 7. Excluding any member of BTS will not be tolerated. BTS as a group won this award, and all seven members of that group must be featured. UPICK ADD SUGA BTS IS SEVEN.”

Another commented, “Trying to be respectful!! Where is #Suga/#AgustD?? Do you need us to tell you that BTS Group has 7 members??”

“We will not tolerate any discrimination against members. Please add SUGA back into the video immediately,” a fan demanded.

Fans even asked UPICK to drop the advertisement if they weren’t able to add Suga back: “BTS consists of 7 members, where is Suga? If your company wants to omit him, please don’t show the ad at all. Please refund my points, I didn’t spend my time voting for your organization to make an egregious decision. BTS is 7!”

Following the backlash, UPICK issued a statement, explaining that the decision was taken on the basis of the guidelines they received from the advertising organisation.

Speaking about the DUI controversy, Suga was charged with riding an e-scooter under the influence of alcohol on the night of August 6. He was spotted by a nearby patrol police, who took him into custody. The BTS member’s license was also revoked. While Suga, along with his agency, BigHit Entertainment, issued an apology, the case is under investigation.
