The world of K-pop is no stranger to drama, but ENHYPEN’s Jungwon has recently found himself at the centre of a storm. On December 19, fans reportedly sent protest trucks to KBS’s recording studios, where ENHYPEN was pre-recording for the Gayo Daejun. These trucks carried messages targeting Jungwon for his involvement in dating rumours with aespa’s Winter and other alleged actions. Although the dating rumours were promptly denied by both parties, the protest made waves across the fandom.

One of the truck’s messages read, “legendarily filial idol. Yang Jungwon’s double life also has no doubt.” Another went as far as to say “provoking fans by dating, smoking, then lying. Yang Jungwon, leave the group. You can debut again in a hookah bar.”

The reference to a bar was tied to allegations that Jungwon was spotted at a private hookah bar, further fueling the controversy.

Amid the uproar over his rumoured relationship with Winter, new allegations surfaced online recently. A viral post on X claimed that Jungwon was allegedly caught smoking, accompanied by a photograph that allegedly showed him holding a cigarette. The post, which quickly gained traction, included a statement from the accuser that read, “Jungwon normally says he doesn’t like to go out, but actually he often goes outside late at night to smoke.”

These allegations came shortly after reports of Jungwon and Winter being seen together at a bar in Chungdam. Fans shared alleged evidence, including visuals of the two leaving the venue separately, Koreaboo reported.

As the rumours spiralled, SM Entertainment and Belift Lab, representing Winter and Jungwon respectively, wasted no time in issuing statements. Both agencies firmly denied any romantic involvement between the two idols, explaining that they had known each other as trainee colleagues. SM Entertainment clarified that Jungwon had trained at their agency briefly before debuting with ENHYPEN.

While the agencies’ denials have done little to quell the storm, the situation continues to divide fans. Some have come to Jungwon’s defence, urging the public to wait for concrete evidence, while others are calling for his withdrawal from the group. For now, Jungwon remains under intense scrutiny, as the controversies show no sign of slowing down.
