The actor’s lawyer made a surprising revelation amid speculation that veteran Bollywood star Govinda and his wife Sunita were experiencing a rough patch in their marriage after 37 years.
In an interview with India Today, Lalit Bindal confirmed that Sunita had filed for divorce six months ago. However, he clarified that the couple has since reconciled and is now back together.
Bindal shared, “We even traveled to Nepal during the New Year and performed a puja together at Pashupatinath Mandir. Everything is fine between them now. Ups and downs are a part of every relationship, but they remain strong and committed to each other.”
The lawyer dismissed rumors of the couple living separately, explaining that Govinda bought the bungalow after becoming an MP strictly for official use. Located right across from the flat he has shared with his wife since their marriage, the property is primarily used for meetings. He further clarified that while the actor occasionally holds discussions there, he rarely stays overnight.

He addressed Sunita’s recent podcast comments, emphasizing that her words had been taken out of context and misinterpreted. Clarifying the statements, he explained, “For example, when she said, ‘Mujhe Govinda jaisa pati nahi chahiye’ (I don’t want a husband like Govinda in my next life), she also mentioned that she wished for a son like him. Likewise, when she said he was with his own Valentine, she was referring to his work commitments. Unfortunately, people are focusing only on the negative, even though the couple remains together. I can confidently say there is no chance of a divorce.”
On Tuesday, Govinda addressed speculation surrounding his rumored divorce from Sunita Ahuja. Earlier reports had claimed that the couple was facing separation due to ongoing disagreements and lifestyle differences.
Further fueling speculation, rumors suggest that Govinda’s increasing closeness to his 30-year-old Marathi co-star may have contributed to the alleged split, as reported by Bollywood Now and Telly Masala.
Responding to these claims, Govinda told ETimes, “There are only business talks going on… I am in the process of starting my films.”
