Shankar Mahadevan’s Grammys 2024 speech has now gone viral. The singer-composer accepted the award on behalf of the group, Shakti who won a Grammy.
Grammys 2024: Shankar Mahadevan and his fellow members from Shakti made India proud at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards. Shakti, a collaboration featuring John McLaughlin, Zakir Hussain, Shankar Mahadevan, V.Selvaganesh, and Ganesh Rajagopalan, was awarded the Grammy Award for their work, The Moment. The album has won Best Global Music Album. Shankar and his team members were present at the Grammys to accept the award. In a video gone viral, Shankar was seen thanking India for the win.
“John Mclaughlin is missing today, we miss you John ji,” Shankar said, addressing John who couldn’t make it to the awards show. “Thank you boys, and thank you, God, family, friends and India, we are proud of you India,” he said, which resulted in a massive roar. “Last but not the least, I’d like to dedicated to award to my wife for whom my every note of music is dedicated to. Love you,” he added.

Indian music composer and Grammy winner Ricky Kej congratulated the band by sharing a video of their acceptance speech on stage. Posting the video on his official X account, Kej wrote, “SHAKTI wins a Grammy!!! Through this album 4 brilliant Indian musicians win Grammys!! Just amazing. India is shining in every direction. Shankar Mahadevan, Selvaganesh Vinayakram, Ganesh Rajagopalan, Ustad Zakhir Hussain. Ustad Zakhir Hussain won a second Grammy along with virtuoso flute player Rakesh Chaurasia. Brilliant!!!! #IndiaWinsGrammys.”
