With the 20th-anniversary reunion last year, many of the film’s castmates have returned to the spotlight. This time, it’s Bonnie Wright, who played Ginny Weasley in the first film. Ginny gave an interview to tell her side of the tale. Here’s what she had to say about getting a reduced role.

Bonnie Wright, best known for playing Ginny Weasley in the Harry Potter films, recently spoke out about her concerns about the character’s screen time in the film series. Wright, who has played Ginny since she was a child in all eight films, voiced displeasure with the character’s development on screen compared to her presence in the book series.
“I definitely feel there was anxiety towards performing and doing the best thing as my character was built, for example,” Bonnie said. “Oh my god, will I be able to do justice to this character people love so much?.” “It was never easy, especially since many scenes from each character’s book were cut for the film. As a result, the movie didn’t have as much to show.”
“It was sometimes disappointing because there weren’t enough scenes depicting specific aspects of the character.” “That made me feel a little apprehensive or frustrated.”
Even in the past, fans have repeatedly voiced a desire to see more complex characters, akin to those in the books. Wright understood their disappointment because of their real passion for Ginny.
Ginny Weasley Appeared In Several Harry Potter Films.
Bonnie began playing Ginny at the age of nine. Ginny comes from a wizarding family. She is the daughter of Molly and Arthur Weasley, and the younger sister of Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint), the eponymous character Harry Potter’s (Daniel Radcliffe’s) best friend.
Ginny originally appears in Chris Columbus’ Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone (2001), but she also plays an important role in Chris’ 2002 sequel, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
She didn’t have much to do in the next two parts, but she gained more screen time in the fifth installment, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. She is a member of Harry’s Dumbledore Army and is part in the final battle inside the Ministry of Magic.
Ginny’s romance with Harry brews in the next three installments, however fans agree with Bonny that the majority of her sequences bringing out that side of her were cut in the films. Ginny can be seen battling alongside Harry in the Battle of Hogwarts in the last installment, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2.
