People reports that Depp made the decision to donate the whole settlement amount to five charities. The highly publicised defamation case involving Johnny Depp and Amber Heard has been settled, as the Aquaman actor has now made the $1 million payment to her ex-husband as ordered by the Virginia court.
In June of last year, the jury awarded Depp $10 million in compensatory damages, $5 million in punitive damages, and $2 million in compensatory damages to Ms. Heard. However, the ex-couple reached an agreement in December, and Heard agreed to pay the Pirates of the Caribbean actor $1 million in damages.
Which Charities Is Johnny Depp Going To Support?
According to a recent report by E! News, a source close to the actor spoke with them and revealed where Johnny would donate his money. They revealed that the Pirates of the Caribbean star had chosen five charities to each receive a $200,000 donation.
One of the organisations is the Make a Film Foundation, with whom Johnny has previously collaborated. The nonprofit organisation aims to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening illnesses by allowing them to collaborate with actors, writers, directors, and producers to create a short film.
The Painted Turtle, which was founded by Paul Newman, is Johnny’s second choice. The organization’s goal is to provide children with chronic and life-threatening illnesses with a camp experience. The third is Red Feather, an initiative that provides housing solutions to people in Indigenous communities.
A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Tetiaroa Society, an organization founded by Marlon Brando. It aims to raise awareness about island sustainability through conservation efforts and educational programmes in local schools.
The final donation is made to the Amazonia Fund Alliance, a group of companies whose goal is to protect conservation efforts in the Amazon, particularly those aimed at Indigenous communities.

On May 23, 2016, Amber filed for divorce from Johnny, and he was served with a temporary restraining order.
