Kanye West has been dropped by his talent agency following his latest controversies. Daniel McCartney, an agent at 33&West, announced the decision on Instagram, stating that the company could not support West’s “harmful and hateful remarks.” The move comes after the rapper faced backlash for making antisemitic comments and selling controversial merchandise on his Yeezy website. Kanye had also made some antisemitic remarks on X (formerly known as Twitter).
“Effective immediately, I’m no longer representing Ye (F/K/A Kanye West) due to his recent hateful and harmful remarks that myself not 33&West can stand for,” McCartney wrote and signed off with “Peace and Love to all.”
Kanye West’s controversies escalated further as he flooded X (formerly Twitter) with a series of antisemitic posts, including disturbing statements like “I’M A NAZI” and “I will never apologize for my Jewish comments.” Adding to his troubles, a Jewish former employee of Yeezy has filed a workplace harassment lawsuit against him in California, further intensifying the backlash against the rapper.
The former Yeezy marketer, who has filed a lawsuit against Kanye West, alleged that she was subjected to antisemitic remarks during her time at the company. She claimed that one of the texts she received read, “Welcome to the first day of working for Hitler.” Additionally, she accused West of sending her pornographic material and other harassing messages.
Visitors to Yeezy.com were recently met with a blank screen and the message, “Something went wrong. This store is unavailable.” The e-commerce platform Shopify later confirmed that it had taken down the store due to policy violations. In an official statement, Shopify emphasized that all merchants must adhere to platform rules, adding that Yeezy had failed to engage in authentic commerce practices and violated its terms.
The controversy surrounding Kanye West intensified after he ran a Super Bowl ad in the Los Angeles area promoting Yeezy.com. The low-budget ad, filmed on an iPhone, featured West sitting in a dentist’s chair, claiming he had spent all his money on dental work and had to shoot the ad himself. However, the real shock came when visitors to Yeezy.com found that the only item for sale was a $20 white T-shirt featuring a black swastika, sparking widespread outrage.
Apart from this, Kanye also faced growing backlash over his antisemitic remarks and controversial actions on X. His final message before deleting his account read, “I’m logging out of Twitter. I appreciate Elon for allowing me to vent. It has been very cathartic to use the world as a sounding board.”
Elon Musk, the owner of X, later confirmed that Kanye West’s account was removed due to policy violations. In response to a conservative podcaster calling for West’s ban, Musk stated, “Given what he has posted, his account is now classified as NSFW. You should not be seeing that anymore.”
Recently at the Critics Choice Awards, Kanye West had turned up uninvited with wife Biance Censori at the red carpet. The latter courted controversy after she wore a dress that made it look like she was completely naked. They were escorted out by the security according to reports.
