Laapataa Ladies Box Office Collection Day 3: Misses The 5 Crore Mark For 1st Weekend
Laapataa Ladies has seen an opening weekend of 4.12 crore at the box office. The film brought in 1.02 crore on the opening day, and while there was day-on-day growth that took place, it wasn’t exponential that would have made the film hit the roof. The rise in numbers has indeed been there, though the collections would now need to be ultra-stable from this point on.
Ideally, the film should have a better Monday when compared to Friday, and the 1 crore mark should be crossed all over again. However, for that to happen, the weekend should have seen double the jumps on Saturday as well as Sunday. Hence, it’s now about the best that it can do in the given circumstances and keeps collecting consistently at some levels.
At the very least, Laapataa Ladies would need to stay over the 0.75 crore mark today for the overall total to aim for the 10 crore mark in the quickest possible time. Kiran Rao’s film has seen good critical acclaim, and while that’s definitely helpful, this needs to reach out to a larger ‘junta’ as well. It is indeed facing competition from Article 370, which is doing very good business in the second week as well.

In fact, there is Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya running in parallel as well, and that film is fetching audiences in the fourth week as well. A clearer picture will emerge once the box office total comes out by the close of Monday.
