On Track To Cross It Ends With Us’ US Haul & Hit The $150M Mark!

Gladiator II collected strong numbers again this weekend at the US box office. It is now close to hitting a major milestone and might even achieve that this coming weekend. It is enjoying a good run at the cinemas, but still not enough compared to its hefty budget. It features a dynamic cast, and Denzel Washington is getting the most praise for his performance. For the uninitiated, this is the sequel to Ridley Scott’s 2000 blockbuster Gladiator. The story picks up several years after the events of the first film. It is the highest-grossing film in Washington’s career and registered the esteemed filmmaker’s biggest international debut. Recently, it surpassed The Godfather and The Green Mile to become one of the top 35 highest-grossing historical fiction films ever.

BoxOfficeReport.com has revealed the weekend actuals of Ridley Scott’s film, and according to that, it collected a solid $7.65 million on its 4th three-day weekend in North America. It played across 3,224 locations in the US. The historical epic saga collected $2.175 million on Friday, followed by $3.337 million on Saturday, and finally $2.142 million on Sunday. Thus, the film’s domestic cume has reached $145.79 million. The film inches closer to the $150 million mark in the US.

It is less than $4 million away from It Ends With Us’ $148.51 million domestic haul. After surpassing the US total of It Ends With Us, Gladiator II will become the 13th highest-grossing film of the year in the US.

At the overseas box office, Gladiator II has collected $252.60 million, and adding the domestic cume, the film’s global cume has reached $398.38 million. It is on track to hit the $400 million mark. The movie recently crossed the worldwide haul of Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. It is now after Will Smith starrer Bad Boys: Ride or Die’s worldwide collection.

Gladiator II was released in the US on November 22.
