In a conversation with Aamir Khan on his chat show ‘Satyamev Jayate’ alongside Parineeti Chopra, Kangana said that she keeps herself away from promoting item numbers as she feels they sent out a wrong message to the society.

Slamming Bollywood, Kangana stated that item songs promote casual s*xism. She quoted, “Ladki ko jis tarah se dikhaya jaa raha hai, the kind of words used for her- Tandoori chicken, kabhi uska dupatta pakkad lega, kabhi uska coat muh mai le lega. Hum chahe kitna bhi apne desh ko defend kare, yeh sharamnaak hai jo hum dikha rahe hai. A few years back, mty friend’s kid was doing a dance step and was looking really cute. But I felt, this would affect her mental development. She will think that this is how we will be accepted. Tab mujhe pehli baar bahut zimmedar mehsoos hua. Phir maine step liya, peechle teen – chaar saalon mai maine kam se kam 6 item numbers karne se mna kar diya.”

Kangana Ranaut On Nepotism

In the past, Kangana Ranaut started off the debate of ‘nepotism’ in the film industry. She openly schooled filmmaker Karan Johar for promoting it in the Hindi cinema. The director is still on occasions attacked by the actress for casting only star kids in his movies and not giving a chance to newcomers.
