Sohum Shah Gives It All For A Subversive And Difficult Thriller That’s Dated At Its Core
RATING – 2.5/5*
Crazxy Review Movie Talkies:
Crazxy starts off without any effort, as the kidnapping plot has already become stale decades ago. However, the second half delivers many surprises that take you on a thrilling ride of subversive statements and emotionally challenging themes rooted in basic human problems. You may recognize these abnormal child themes from 70s Hollywood, or you may have seen Paa (2009), making it dated in that sense; additionally, some artificial conflicts render it a strictly okay affair.
Crazxy Story:
The film follows Dr. Abhimanyu (Sohum Shah), who finds it difficult to choose between a 5 crore settlement for his career and a 5 crore ransom demanded for his daughter’s life. Initially, he dismisses it as a prank, followed by a careless attitude due to having abandoned his daughter for her abnormal brain and his wife for the same reason. When he learns the kidnapping is real, he struggles to meet the timeline, all while facing two additional challenges at the same time. Will he be able to succeed?
Crazxy features a gripping screenplay in the final hour, but it could have been stronger in the first half. Some deliberately inserted conflicts, such as the operation, his girlfriend, and the accident, cannot be considered reasonable because they do not contribute to the main narrative. Just examine the plan and how these elements can fit into it; then you’ll realize it’s overly dramatic and somewhat invalid. If an accident can cripple his leg, how can it leave his mobile unharmed? If there was no accident, and for goodness’ sake, no rain, would it have been the same film? Would it have made any difference?

Crazxy Cast:
The film rides high on Sohum Shah’s efforts, and honestly, he has performed very well. The second half of the film sees him in some incredibly difficult and unbearable moments, and he ensures that we feel that tension and pain. He is present throughout the runtime, nearly 99% of it, so obviously, there was little scope for any other actor, thus making Shah’s impact even greater. Nimisha Sajayan, Tinnu Anand, Shilpa Shukla, and the “girl” appear as voice cast members, so there is not much to discuss regarding their acting.
Crazxy Movie Review:
The technical aspects are decent. Crazxy is shot well, but the color gradient isn’t particularly fancy. The editing is fine, and the background score works well, while the music, despite being situational, detracts from the overall experience. Girish Kohli, as a writer, faced a very challenging film that is quite difficult to bring to the screen, which is why it lacks that high-end connection. Yet, it must be said that he took the challenge and justified it to some extent; however, it falters in conviction since there are too many elements to handle simultaneously. Nevertheless, this one is a crazy ride with the “x” factor getting the emotional quotient right, but it feels somewhat dated at its core.
