Sydney Sweeney recently opened up about the harassment she faces from the paparazzi.
Sydney Sweeney has candidly shared her distressing experiences with paparazzi harassment in a recent interview. The Anyone But You actress revealed that photographers invaded her privacy by showing up at her new Florida residence while she was spending time with family. She claimed that the photographers pressured her to step outside in a bikini for photos. Sweeney recounted in an interaction with Glamour magazine, “They said, ‘If you tell her to just come outside in a bikini, I’ll take pictures and then I’ll leave you alone.”
She further expressed her disbelief over claims circulating on social media that she had invited the paparazzi, saying, “Why would I call the paparazzi to take pictures of me at my own house when my baby cousins and family are there and I’m in my backyard? Why would I ever want that?”
Describing the extreme lengths to which these photographers go, Sweeney told the magazine, “I have pictures of these guys in kayaks hiding in bushes in the ocean. They got there at 8 a.m. and wouldn’t leave until 4 p.m. I should be able to be in my home and feel comfortable and safe.”
Sweeney stated that she isn’t as bothered by the photographers, but rather by the invasion of her privacy when their photos expose her location. “When those photos go out, then my actual safety is at risk. Everyone knows where I am. Now there’s boats that go by, and I literally hear them say, ‘This is Sydney Sweeney’s house.’ It becomes a star tour in my front yard,” she said.
Sweeney also shared that she has a small circle of close friends, stating, “I have my family, and my cousins are my best friends. I have my team and a handful of best friends. It’s very small.” She mentioned that all of her friends are outside the industry, except for her Euphoria co-star Maude Apatow.
In her Glamour cover story, Sweeney opened up about the ongoing and often unsettling conversations about her body. On a positive note, she shared that many young fans reach out to her, expressing how her presence has inspired them to embrace their own bodies with confidence. “That means a lot to me because I really believe in empowering others and feeling powerful with your body and embracing your sexuality. And if you have boobs, great. Flaunt them,” she asserted.
