The Buckingham Murders Movie Review: Kareena Kapoor Khan Shines In This Emotionally-Compelling Thriller

The Buckingham Murders is very much a slow-burn treat. Well-performed but the languid pace can be trying for some. While this Hansal Mehta directorial doesn’t have anything new and exciting to offer as a crime thriller, it delivers on the drama aspect and is emotionally compelling.

Kareena Kapoor Khan is subtle and restrained in her performance as the grieving yet resilient Jass Bhamra. Though largely a very convincing portrayal of grief, Kareena ends up being a little monotonous in some parts. A tad bit too restrained.

The Buckingham Murders struggles to create tension in the narrative in the 1st half and takes till the 2nd half to truly hit its stride. The film concludes with an interesting climax.

Ranveer Brar is competent in his role as the troubled father with a hidden side. Prabhleen Sandhu gets an interesting arc and a pivotal moment in the climax where she shines. Kapil Redekar is moving in his performance as the conflicted youth. Sarah Jane Dias is effective in her extremely fleeting appearance on the screen.

The Buckingham Murders is in theatres near you. If emotional, slow-burn thrillers are your thing, catch the flick in the cinemas!
